Manuela Moschella is Professor of Political Science in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Bologna, where she directs CONNECT – Transnational Connections and Governance, the department's research centre, and EU Futures, a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on the future of European integration. She is also editor of the Review of International Political Economy. She has also served as Associate Fellow in the Europe Programme at Chatham House and as Senior Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI).

Moschella’s research examines the politics of economic policymaking, the changing relationship between technocratic governance and democratic accountability, and the evolution of European political economy and economic governance. Her work explores how institutions such as central banks, international organisations, and the European Union shape economic ideas and public policy, and has been published in leading journals in political science and international political economy.

Her most recent book, Unexpected Revolutionaries: How Central Banks Made and Unmade Economic Orthodoxy (Cornell University Press, 2024), explains how shifting political coalitions transformed central banking from the 1970s through the COVID-19 crisis. She is also co-editor of European Political Economy: Theoretical Approaches and Policy Issues (Oxford University Press, 2023).
